A strong breeze sent Lara Flynn Boyle’s character flying off the roof of The Montecito Resort & Casino — and out of NBC’s “Las Vegas.”

Boyle is famously known for her slender figure. Her character, Monica Mancuso, was wearing an outfit with winglike sleeves when a wind current sent her soaring over the Las Vegas Strip. The episode aired Monday night.

“Lara was a great sport,” TV Guide quoted executive producer Gary Scott Thompson as saying. “When we shot her flying off, we were all in hysterics — including her.”

Slideshow: Celebrity Sightings Thompson said the decision to kill off Monica, the flamboyant new owner of the Montecito, wasn’t a reflection on Boyle “as an actress or as a person” but simply “about doing something outrageous and unexpected.”

“If she came in and our ratings went through the roof, that would have been a different story,” Thompson said. “But they were the same as they always were.”
