NEW YORK - Barbara Walters is showing her support for former “View” pal Rosie O’Donnell’s quest for her own new talk show.

Access Hollywood caught up with Walters on Tuesday night in New York after news broke earlier in the day that Rosie might be in line for MSNBC’s 9 p.m. primetime slot.

“Oh, I think it would be wonderful of Rosie to get a show and a show where she can really shine and say what she wants to say,” Walters told Access Hollywood. “I am very fond of Rosie. I wanted Rosie on ‘The View.’ We had a fascinating year and I just wish her good things and I think Rosie feels the same way about me, I really do.”

O’Donnell also alluded to the possibility of her return to TV during a book signing in Miami over the weekend. According to a podcast, O’Donnell hinted she might soon be going up against “the guy with the suspenders and the long, long face.”

If she were to secure the 9 p.m. slot, she’d be up against cable heavyweights including “Larry King Live” on CNN and “Hannity & Colmes” on Fox News Channel.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, a rep for O’Donnell had no comment on her possible primetime gig.
