LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears was involved in a minor traffic accident on a Los Angeles freeway Saturday, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball says the three-car collision occurred about 8:20 p.m. Saturday on the northbound 405 at the 101 freeway in San Fernando Valley. Kimball says it was a minor accident and nobody was hurt.

The 26-year-old pop singer, whose career has been buried under an avalanche of personal and health problems, rear-ended a car in stop-and-go traffic after she failed to stop her Mercedes in time, said Kimball.

That car, in turn, pushed forward into another car, he said.

The CHP took a report and no one was injured or cited.

An after-hours e-mail sent to Spears' publicist was not returned Saturday.
