Kudos to Jamie Lynn Spears for accomplishing something neither her sister nor Matthew McConaughey could do this past weekend: outsmart the paparazzi.

Many outlets reported that Spears and her new daughter, Maddie, left the hospital on Saturday, June 21, and returned to Serenity, the home in Kentwood, La., where Jamie Lynn’s mom, Lynne Spears, lives. Not so.

What actually happened, according to OK! magazine, was one car went to Serenity, but that car was actually occupied by new dad Casey Aldridge, Lynne Spears and a Jamie Lynn lookalike.

Once the photographers left in pursuit of the decoy Spears, security guards drove the real Jamie Lynn and little girl Maddie back to Liberty, Miss., where Aldrige and Spears own a home.

One of these SATC stars is not like the other
The initial buzz surrounding the release of the “Sex and the City” movie might be waning, but chatter about how difficult it was to meet the needs of the film’s stars continues.

First of all, despite a very strict door policy, it was impossible to keep some of Sarah Jessica Parker’s more enthusiastic fans at bay. At the New York City premiere after party, “one guy wanted to meet her, but instead of walking over to say hello, he basically lunged at her. It looked more like an attempted mugging than an introduction,” said a source familiar with the incident. “SJP was skittish for the rest of the night after that,” said the source.

Luckily for organizers, not every one of the four leading ladies had that sort of fan base present. “They all came with security. Well, all of them except for Kim Cattrall. It was a little awkward to see the other three surrounded by these big guys, and Kim just doing her thing. You almost feel bad for her,” said the source.

Weekend box office
As predicted, “Get Smart” was No. 1 at the box office. The film made $39.2 million, which was actually slightly better than expected — most studio estimates had the weekend take hovering at around $35 million.

“The Love Guru” came in fourth and earned an embarrassing $14 million. Something worth noting, however: “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl,” made $222,697. Considering the film opened in only five theaters nationwide, that’s not a bad take.

Celebrity sightings
New York: On June 14, Brooke Shields was spotted at Armani Exchange store in Soho. ... Danny Masterson attended the “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead” cast party at the Plaza Lobby Bar at the Plaza Hotel on June 19. Also that day, Julianne Moore was in the West Village sporting a Donna Karan Modem Leo tote.

Los Angeles: Chris Brown and Lily Allen stopped by the House of Blues to see Pete Wentz’s new artist TYGA on June 16. ... A very slim Bridget Moynahan made a rare appearance at the Cartier Love Day celebration in Los Angeles on June 18. Benji Madden, Djimon Hounsou and Kimora Lee Simmons also attended the event.

Abroad: “Sex and the City” star Kristin Davis took in some of the sights in Jerusalem last week before shooting her ad campaign for Ahava Dead Sea Cosmetics, due out in 2009.
