Scarlett Johansson doesn’t believe in monogamy — unless she’s involved.

“I don’t think it’s a natural instinct for human beings,” she told Cosmopolitan, recalling comments she made while promoting “Match Point” in 2006. “Monogamy can be hard work for some people. I don’t think it applies to everybody, and I don’t think a lot of people can do it.”

But Johansson, now engaged to Ryan Reynolds, says she is one of those people.

“I believe in finding a soul mate. I’ve always been in monogamous relationships. I would never want to be in an open one. It’d be too awful,” she told the mag.

The “Lost in Translation” actress’ relationships — she’s been linked to Josh Hartnett and Jared Leto — have been a learning process, one she recommends for young singles looking for love.

“You don’t always meet the right person at the right time,” she said. “It’s important for people to figure out their own lives before involving someone else — to gauge where you are and work on your own issues.”

The bombshell actress confirmed her engagement to Reynolds in May, but she’ll still get to explore her sexuality on screen. She has steamy role in Woody Allen’s upcoming “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” featuring a rumored threesome with Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
