MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. - A Michigan bank is taking NHL veteran Sergei Fedorov to court after it says payments stopped on more than $2 million in loans.

The Macomb Daily reports that Citizens State Bank filed a lawsuit Monday against Fedorov, a former star with the Detroit Red Wings who now plays for the Washington Capitals.

The newspaper, citing court documents, says Fedorov got loans in 2004 and 2005, one for $1.75 million and another for $500,000.

Attorney Scott Norton says the bank sent a default notice in May after payments stopped.

Fedorov’s attorney, Brian O’Keefe of Birmingham, was away from his office and not immediately available for comment Tuesday.

Fedorov played 13 seasons for Detroit. Columbus traded him to Washington during the 2007-08 season.
