NEW YORK - An airline passenger has been arrested after allegedly grabbing the captain's crotch in a fracas on a Paris-to-New York flight.

The FBI says Mathias Guerrand-Hermes was released on a $50,000 personal recognizance bond after appearing at a Brooklyn court on Wednesday. He is charged with interfering with flight crew members.

Guerrand-Hermes' attorney didn't immediately respond to an after-hours telephone message.

The court complaint says Guerrand-Hermes sat on a female passenger's armrest and ignored orders to sit down during Air France Flight 008 Tuesday. The crew handcuffed him until landing.

News reports identify Guerrand-Hermes as an heir to luxury fashion house Hermes. The company says he isn't involved in its management.
