Why it's a deal: According to a recent search on Kayak, the lowest round-trip fare for travel in early December between New York City and Hamilton, Bermuda, is $313, including taxes (American). For an additional $145, the JetBlue package covers airfare as well as the three-night hotel stay and all taxes.
Trip details: The Bermuda 400th Anniversary Offer includes round-trip airfare on JetBlue and three nights' accommodations at the Surf Side Beach Club near the capital, Hamilton, a busy port full of shops and English-style pubs.
The hotel features seven cottages built into a cliff and 18 apartment-style units around the pool. The air-conditioned rooms have basic amenities and fully equipped kitchenettes. The property encompasses a crescent-shaped private beach, gardens, a pool, tennis courts, a mini spa, and a beauty salon.
One of the most popular local attractions is the Royal Naval Dockyard and its Bermuda Maritime Museum. Other points of interest include St. David's Island, the Heydon Trust (a sanctuary for migratory birds), and Crystal Caves.
Bermuda's 400th anniversary special is also available at two other hotels, starting at $395 for air and three nights at the Grape Bay Beach Hotel and at $439 for air and three nights at the Fairmont Southampton. Those looking for a longer trip can add extra nights at the time of purchase.
Bermuda is a semitropical island, and in winter and spring temperatures are lower than on Caribbean islands; average daily temperatures are in the 60s. But even if it's too cool to swim, this time of year is perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling. A light jacket should keep you warm in the evenings and early mornings.
And don't forget to pack your passport! U.S. citizens traveling to Bermuda by air are now required to show a passport.
