The deal
For stunning scenery, charming port towns, and close-encounters with wildlife consider a relaxing cruise through the waters of Alaska. Although this year’s cruising season has come and past, a handful of cruise lines are already launching some early-bird discounts on cruises set to embark next spring. While many Alaskan itineraries begin in Whittier or Seattle this sailing embarks from Los Angeles, saving many travelers on the cost of airfare to the port. After setting sail on May 1, 2010 the Norwegian Star will spend three leisurely days at sea allowing plenty of time for passengers to experience all the ship has to offer. In addition to exquisite dinning, the Star boasts 12 bars and lounges, casino, nightclub, library, golf simulator, and jogging track.
The first port of call is Juneau, a prime spot for whale watching or to pick up some souvenirs early on before heading to the next port in Ketchikan. Here, visitors can explore the area’s winding boardwalk or take a shore excursion to the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show.
After that, the ship will coast through the breathtaking Inside Passage before reaching the final port of call in Vancouver, B.C. The dollars
