Don’t expect Britney Spears to ask Beyoncé Knowles to join her and Madonna’s girl party. When Britney goes to nightclubs, says a source, she asks DJs not to play music by Knowles, who not long ago said that her religious beliefs forbid her from engaging in a same sex smooch like Britney and Madonna did. The source says Spears also asks DJs not to play music by her ex-sweetie, Justin Timberlake.

Meanwhile, Britney is continuing her raunch campaign. Although she recently expressed regret over appearing a tad underdressed on several magazine covers — and even claimed that the folks at Esquire tricked her into posing without her britches — oops! she did it again!

According to sources, Britney appears on the upcoming issue of Brit magazine Q dressed in leather gloves, bra and skimpy underpants, kneeling on a car and suggestively grabbing the inside of her thighs.

Inside, she is quoted as saying that she cries during “the time of the month.” She also discusses her belief that there are “spirits around us, good angels and bad angels” and she suggests that she ran into one of them at a castle in Germany.

A spokeswoman for Spears calls her alleged ban on music by Knowles and Timberlake “ridiculous” and said she didn’t want to comment on the Q magazine spread until she sees it.

Fur will fly
Those feisty folks at PETA have pulled a birthday surprise on their longtime target, Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

“Anna recently ran some hideous thing where live animals were posing on skins of their own breed,” says an insider at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. “We were furious and were planning an attack on her until we read a new scientific study that says people who lack empathy may have something wrong with their brains.” So, because next week is Wintour’s birthday, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk got a birthday present for her.

“Would you allow PETA to pay for a scan of the prefrontal region of your brain?” Newkirk wrote to Wintour. “Such a scan could help establish whether your brain is perhaps not fully developed and functional, which could explain your inability to curb violent desires that result in real harm to animal life.” PETA enclosed a gift certificate, worth up to $3,600.

A spokesman for Anna Wintour had no comment. “We’ve decided that if, indeed, something is really wrong with her brain, we’ll leave her alone,” says the source. “If not, it’s war.”

Notes from all over

Image: Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow is planning to marry Chris Martin next summer in Bovey Castle on Dartmoor, in Devon, England, according to overseas reports. Paltrow’s rep didn’t return repeated calls for comment. . . . After gadfly filmmaker Michael Moore wraps up his controversial film “911 Fahrenheit” about eroding civil liberties, he’ll be tackling the health care system in a film called “Sicko” according to Aint-It-Cool.com. But Moore’s rep says, “We don’t think that’s a project he’s doing.” . . .

Russell Crowe scoffed at the Bondi Hilton ban on flip-flops and wore a pair into the lobby of the posh hotel, according to the Scottish Daily Record. When reprimanded by an employee, he chuckled, “Pretend they’re stilettos, mate.”
