DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - WLWT.com
The Warren County Coroner has been called to home after a domestic disturbance incident.
The incident happened at a home along South Shore Drive at about 6 p.m. when deputies responded to a 911 call.
"As one of our deputies exits the vehicle, a white male exits the garage of this residence pulls the gun out, starts firing at deputies," Sheriff Larry Sims said.
Investigators said that man was Robert Piercefield, 56. The first deputies on the scene, Sgt. Doug Wheatley and deputies Nick Marconi and Mark Purdy, were not injured and returned fire at Piercefield.
But Sims said Piercefield soon took his own life with a gunshot wound to the head.
Rescue units from Deerfield Township, Mason, Hamilton Township and Warren County were called to the scene. A woman in the home was not injured.
The home is located in the Waters Edge subdivision in Deerfield Township.
