Hours after Axl Rose proclaimed via Twitter that Guns N' Roses' upcoming tour was canceled, U.K. promoters said at least a portion of it is still on and that the singer's account had been hacked.

"Festival Republic," said the Live Nation European company in a statement late Sunday, "are informed by GN'R management that Guns N' Roses have NOT canceled their performances at Reading & Leeds and that Axl Rose's twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded."

Guns N' Roses is scheduled to headline the Reading Festival on Aug. 27 and the Leeds Festival on Aug. 29.

Speculation as to why and how Axl Rose's Twitter was hacked is varied; the singer is a sporadic user. However, the timing might offer a clue to the curious.

It happened less than two days after the band's first very tardy U.S. show in four years at the Rock'N'Rev Festival, the self-proclaimed largest biker event in the world, in Sturgis, South Dakota, on Aug. 13. There are some very unhappy fans out there that, to quote an old GNR hit, have run out of "Patience."
