The judge ordered it stricken from the record after Quethlie Alexie gave a dramatic account of an incident outside the jury's presence but told jurors a significantly different version.
Slideshow: The latest in celebrity sightingsAlexie had told jurors how Smith drank a bottle of medicine and fell into a two-day slumber from which she could not be roused.
In their absence, she described Smith's boyfriend Howard K. Stern crying, shaking her and saying if anything happened to her, he would go to jail.
Stern and two doctors have pleaded not guilty to drug conspiracy charges. They are not charged in Smith's drug overdose death.
