Is Madonna pushing herself too hard? The 45-year old singer reportedly fainted following a recent concert, and fans are worried about the health of the perfectionist performer. After her first concert in Inglewood, Calif., Madonna thanked the crowd and “fainted backstage in full sight of those less fortunate who had cheaper tickets way above the stage,” according to a report in The Daily Trojan, a student newspaper for the University of Southern California. Fans have raved about Madonna’s fitness and her voice and precision performances, but some complained that she didn’t give enough encores. If indeed, she did faint, that might be the reason.

“She didn’t faint but she was certainly suffering from exhaustion,” Madonna’s rep tells the Scoop.

Madonna also said she had stomach flu and cancelled a concert. The day after the cancellation, Madonna told people that “she thought she was superwoman and thought she could do it all “but she realized she couldn’t, and it wasn’t pretty,” according a source.

Monumental purchase
Wanna buy a presidential monument? Cheap?

Well, maybe not so cheap. The United States Presidential Monument, a 17-foot, 27-ton structure that supposedly was made to be placed in front of the White House is for sale on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=39723&item=3915825311). The opening bid is $6 million. The lucky winning bidder also gets an 8-foot, 7-ton United States Constitutional Monument that is currently in front of the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

The Presidential Monument was commissioned under former president George H. Bush, and includes a portrait of him etched in glass, but its installment apparently was delayed by red tape until he was out of office. “The new Clinton administration had a distinct lack of interest in perpetuating what they saw as a ‘Republican’ project, developed by a partisan commission,” according to the item’s description on eBay. So the monument was put in storage.

The buyer has to agree to let the other monument stay at the Reagan Library at least until March 2005, “after which the monument can be (BUT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE) reappraised and then gifted under the purchasers name to the Museum for certain tax benefits.”

Notes from all over

Image: Lance Bass

Former ‘NSync-er Lance Bass appears to be sporting a smaller, more petite nose these days. ... “Can’t swear — but looks to me like Marc Anthony was wearing the Asprey A-line ring on his wedding finger,” a sharp-eyed source told the Scoop. An Asprey rep says she has no info on that, but this is the same fashion-savvy source who first identified the pricey accessories Martha Stewart wore to her trial, so we’re inclined to believe. ... British bookmakers have placed odds on how long the Marc Anthony/J. Lo union will last (3-1 it won’t reach year’s end), but Las Vegas casinos are refusing to. “They are sometime customers of ours, so we don’t want to go there,” a normally media-hungry casino source told the Las Vegas Sun.

Jeannette Walls delivers the Scoop Monday through Thursday on MSNBC.com.
