SPEARS, FEDERLINE

Whatever Britney Spears' husband, Kevin Federline, is spending his money on, it's apparently not his wardrobe.

Is Britney Spears’ hubby a big spender — with her money?

The singer may have to return to work after the birth of her son sooner than expected because her cash flow has been in mostly one direction — out — and some are blaming Kevin Federline.

His latest venture is a multimillion-dollar dance school he’s building with Michael Jackson’s father, Joe. But an insider tells Life & Style weekly that Spears’ ever-present mom, Lynne, may save the day. She has stepped in and is keeping a watchful eye on the couple’s checkbook.

Says the source: “Lynne is not about to let Kevin squander all of Britney’s money.”

Pink wants circuses to pack their trunks
Pink is looking to sink the circus.

The rocker is throwing her weight behind an elephant-protection ordinance in Chicago that would effectively eliminate the use of the pachyderms under big tops by banning the use of bullhooks and electric prods.

Pink has sent a letter to mayor Richard M. Daley to support the ordinance, which Ringling Bros., among others, oppose.  The ordinance was introduced after the sudden death of three elephants at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo, and will be discussed at an upcoming committee hearing.

“Pink learned about the abuse of captive elephants when a trainer brought one onto the set of her ‘Just Like a Pill’ video,” PETA spokesman Dan Mathews tells The Scoop. “She could see that something was wrong and she called us to learn more about the issue. Now, Pink would like to see circuses pack their trunks.”

Notes from all over
Johnny Depp seems to be haunted by the cross-dressing character he played in “Ed Wood.” “Actually, I find myself constantly sneaking looks at women’s shoes and stockings,” the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star told More magazine. “I’ve developed this subconscious habit. It may be a little dangerous. I’m a little worried.”  . . . “Lost” star Naveen Andrews says he can’t bear to watch himself on screen . . . Hundreds of Jake Plummer fans have signed a petition urging the Broncos quarterback to re-grow the moustache he recently shaved off. “Two hurricanes, rising gas prices and political divisiveness have torn our country apart,” pleaded the petition writer. “With your mustache, maybe we can begin the long process of healing. Without it, Jake, we as a society are doomed.”
